EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a structured, evidence-based therapy used to help people heal from distressing or traumatic experiences.

When something overwhelming happens, the brain may not fully process the memory. As a result, the experience can stay “stuck,” continuing to cause symptoms such as anxiety, panic, intrusive thoughts, emotional distress, or negative beliefs about yourself. EMDR helps the brain safely reprocess these memories so they lose their emotional intensity.

During EMDR therapy, you briefly focus on a troubling memory while also engaging in bilateral stimulation—most commonly guided eye movements, tapping, or tones that alternate from left to right. This process helps the brain access and reprocess the memory in a more adaptive way.

Over time, the memory becomes less upsetting, and healthier thoughts, emotions, and beliefs naturally take its place. Many people report that memories feel more distant, neutral, or no longer emotionally charged.

Hi, I’m Nicole. I am so glad you are here! The act of starting therapy can be scary. Sometimes the idea of being vulnerable and sharing one’s struggles is hard and can make clients feel uncomfortable and fearful of being judged. I get it!

I create a warm and welcoming environment for all clients to help increase their comfort and show them that they are in a judgement free place. My only intention as a therapist is to help clients navigate through the challenges they want to work on with insight, tools/strategies, support and care.

I work with pre-teens, teens, and adults. I work with ADHD, Anxiety, burnout, self-esteem, relationships, life-transitions, identity exploration, and more.

I aim to support each client’s unique journey towards healing and wholeness by providing a safe, contained space for client self-expression, exploration, imagination and play. As a Relational Psychotherapist and an Art Therapist, I believe art, play and sandplay allow clients to connect to their unique creative, expressive, and playful styles on their path towards healing. These expressive forms of therapy allow processing of emotions with or without words, and thus, provide additional opportunities towards healing beyond talk therapy.

It is a privilege to accompany clients on their unique path towards greater wholeness. It’s a pleasure to witness clients discovering their own creativity, playfulness, growth, resilience, bravery, voice, story, and meaning-making.

In my spare time you will find me doing collages, creating sand trays, journaling, exploring my dreams with my dream work group, watching movies, listening to podcasts, continuing courses, and volunteering. I relish time spent with my husband, my grown son and his partner, extended family and friends.

I believe every person communicates and heals in their own way — through art, play, imagination, or quiet reflection. My role is to support that process, not to “fix,” but to help uncover strengths, emotions, and ways of being that may have been overlooked. Together, we work toward understanding, expression, and growth at your own pace. As an artist and scholar in medical anthropology, I’ve long been drawn to the ways imagination and creativity shape how we heal, communicate, and belong. I chose psychotherapy — and specifically art therapy — because it bridges those worlds. Through art, I’ve seen children and adults express emotions, memories, and insights that might otherwise remain unspoken. This work allows me to honour each client’s story while exploring the creative and cultural dimensions of care.
